This page will continue to document LI TRIO events with photos and written perspectives contributed by our volunteers. Long Island TRIO volunteers represent our chapter at many donor drives, educational events and other events where organ donation and transplantation is discussed. Our volunteers also teach the public about the importance of enrolling in the Donate Life Registry.

In New York State someone dies every 15 hours waiting for an organ. Nationwide, 18 people die every day while waiting for organ transplants. Every ten minutes, another name is added to the national waiting list. Things are gradually improving and 22% of New Yorkers over the age of 18 are enrolled in the New York State Donate Life Registry as we coordinate cooperative programs with our outstanding OPO with the goal of increasing registry enrollments and saving lives.

The LI TRIO Singers perform our nation’s National Anthem at sports events in order to promote the importance of saving lives with organ donation and transplantation. Promoting organ donation awareness is a significant part of our mission.
